The house was impressive, with brick exteriors, planter boxes, woodwork and new paint.
Do you think you would be happy here.
Yes Mama, he replied, impatiently eager to begin his new life.
Do you want me to stay back to help?
Of course not. Everything is set.
Well then, I will take leave now,. Please take care, she said. wl
Biting her trembling lip, she walked away, struggling hard to prevent her tears from overflowing.
Unable to prevent herself, she turned back to see, knowing she would only see an empty driveway.
Blinding tears blurred the road she had to take.
Life had moved on.
Great little snapshot of a mother trying to let go. Nicely done.

This reminds me of dropping off kids at the dorm in college. Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding. A new chapter, so to speak! I think theres a typo at then end of the 6th paragraph.😊.
This so true to life: what feels like freedom and progress for the child feels like loss and sorrow for the mom. This too will pass.

Been there, done that. Four times. And many times after each first time. It never grows any easier to say goodbye.

Such a bittersweet moment for the mother. But if you love them, let them go.

Dear Sabina,
I can see what’s on your mind. ❤ We raise our children to be responsible adults, but when the time comes it's hard to cut the invisible umbilical cord, isn't it? Hugs my friend. Lovely story.

You’ve written a moving story. It is a wrench when children fly free. But joys follow, because they become fully adults, with interesting thoughts and interesting lives that they can share with you. My three children are now all grown and flown, and we’re good friends.
Good luck with the wedding!
