Here you lie among thistles and thorns
Forlorn, forsaken, forgotten?
No, never, by me,
Witness my seat by you!
You ask why I stay,
Ah, my love, how can I not?
My life is twined with you
Can I cut the thread that binds us still?
I live the present with the past in mind
Do I have a future, do I look forward?
Not at all, unless its my end
How can I, when I've lost my half, my you?
Man's life is like the grass flower,
Doesn't it bloom, die in a day?
Time, though short, seems long,
Oh, when will I go, when will I be dust?

Life springs forth like a flower, and is cut down
It fleeth like a shadow, and continueth not
Yea, man giveth up the ghost and where is he?

Thank you. The pic reminded of my mother!
My dad passed away on May 12th 2012. My Mom misses him terribly.
I wrote the poem from her perspective!

It’s a paraphrased clip from a Masonic prayer. I’m glad you liked it. It goes well with your poem.

Its a reflection of a spouse and I put in words my Mom’s state. May 11th is my dad’s 5th death anniversary. They lived for each other and now she is alone.
We are helpless as all of us do have a separate life and responsibilities. There is only so much one can do.
My observation is that a loss is a loss and everyone around can help only to an extent!

Loosing anyone close is hard, and leaves a pain which may fade but rarely goes. I am sorry for your mothers sadness,

Very sad but also very beautiful. In the end we realize that we are on our own.

There is no greater need than loneliness, but that’s what distinguishes us as humans – the need for others.
