Extreme and Extremity

Am I seeking balance in trying to hold together everything
That the world teaches, and inpresses me to do?
Or am I focusing on abandoning and  exhausting myself,
Pouring out with joy my wages and my wealth
In wanton abandonment of self in worship to Him!

Am I being confined to daily walk and wager,
Within the narrow limits of culture and social structure?
Or am I bold to step beyond the bonds of propriety,
Unshackling myself from the bindings of death,
Overflowing in my honor to Him, wasting my all on Him!

Am I holding myself back even when I behold His glory
So I could survive and exist within the limits of temporal strain?
Or touching and overwhelming Him with my radiant response to His glory,
Holding nothing back, lavishing my life’s assets and means on Him,
Ravishing Him with the devotion and passion that fills my heart!

Here I am, dear Lord, saturating you with my love,
Anointing you, the Resurrection and the Life,
Investing gladly in you, not laying up treasure on earth,
Choosing rather to rapture You, seeking to capture you,
Breaking with fervor my alabaster box to consecrate my ardor,
Wisely grabbing every opportune moment to overwhelm Your longing heart!
