Kezia, did you hear the news?
What news, Andrea?
Our favorite book is being made into a film!
Really? Are they truly making it into a movie?
Yeah. I just can’t wait to see it!
I only hope they are true to the book. The book was so fabulous and out of the box!
Yeah. Too often the film disappoints as it fails to capture the essence of the book.
Exactly. Just witness the recent remakes of films based on certain books!
Yeah. They changed the whole plot and that was such a big letdown!
Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

So true. A novel and a film based on it may project very different themes. Great take on this prompt.

That’s often so true.

And sometimes reading the book is a big disappointment after seeing the film

Dear Sabina
I had this very conversation with someone yesterday. There’s an old saying that goes, “Never judge a book by its movie.” Often true. Good one.

Which shouldn’t be, if the book precedes the film!

Exactly. The beauty of the book, with its description and emotive pathos, is sometimes and often not captured in celluloid!

I’ve read it depends on the director. Also, with a movie, there’s little imagination involved. We embellish the book with our own mind. I’ve found few movies due credit to the books. Good writing, Sabina. 🙂 — Suzanne
